How to Report the Loss of A Passport and Get A New On

After confirming the loss of your passport,you must take the following steps at once so as to minimize your losses. 

• You should report the loss of your passport to the local police.Remember to bring your valid documentation and get a certificate for your report.

• Go to the International Students’ Office to get a certificate letter.

• Bring the certificate issued by the local police and the certificate letter written by the International Students’ Office to the Entry-Exit Administration of Beijing Public Security Bureau to get a written confirmation of the loss.

• Apply for a new passport with the written confirmation at your embassy in Beijing.

• After getting your new passport,you must first go to the International Students Office within 10 days and apply for a new student visa, then to the Entry-Exit Administration for a new visa and a new residence permit.You should also update your residence registration information in time.
