On Oct.26th, 2013, International Students Office organized a two-day Culture Experience Activity in Shanxi for international and Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan students. During this activity, students visited Jin Memorial Hall founded in 1023, Ancient City of Ping Yao with 2700 years of history, Ancient City Wall, Xietongqing Banking House Museum, Ancient County Government, Site of Rishengchang Remittance Bank that is the earliest one in Chinese banking sector, and Courtyard of Family Qiao built in Qing Dynasty, Qianlong Period (1736-1795), featuring Northern Folk House at that time. Students listened to the guide carefully, took photos and were too delighted to leave. Everyone was amazed by the ancient Chinese buildings and cultures in the two unforgettable days.

This activity won great acclaim from students. Many students felt it was a valuable opportunity to exchange with other students from different countries and regions, or ones in different majors. This was how they can know more about China and improve their own Chinese. As for Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan students, this activity deepened their sense of identity for culture of the motherland. All in all, this activity meant a lot, and it enriched students’ life and made them know more about each other. In addition, it provided a platform for them to learn Chinese culture and to enjoy beautiful landscape.
